So this book gets rave reviews from me! First, Sean Crisden..need I say more? Add in Cardeno C and her shifter genre and you have gold!If you have not listened to an audiobook by Sean Crisden, this is a great book to start with as you meet the Blue Mountain pack and follow Simon and Mitch's love story. Sean has the ability to breathe life into a book, he brings characters off the page and to life.. Something you just have to experience.
So let me tell you about this story. Simon is a male Omega shifter. If you are new to shifters the Omega is the counterpart to the Alpha, usually the nurturer and helper of a pack. To have a male Omega is unusual .. Hence Simon's life of not fitting in. That all changes when he meets Mitch, an Alpha of the Blue Mountain Pack - Mitch's Life changes when he realizes this new shifter in his territory is not only an Omega but his mate. Simon is Leary of any pack and wants nothing to do with joining the Blue Mountain Pack; however, Mitch has other ideas he is not about to let his mate disappear. I enjoyed watching these two get to know each other, learn to trust each other, and ultimately fall in love. When it comes out why Simon wants to avoid "pack life" it is heartwarming to watch Mitch comfort and make his mate a priority.
I cannot wait to get more from the Blue Mountain Pack and my hopes are we will get Sean again for the audiobook. 4.5 Stars -- rounding up to 5 Heartwarming stars!

Simon has been rejected by his father because he was an omega. The Alpha would not admit that he had fathered an omega, because he thought it would be seen as his weakness. Simon and his mother have suffered for years, barely managing to survive. Now that his mother is dead and he has fulfilled his promise to her (to bury her on the pack's land), he plans to try to survive few more years. Always on the move, never trusting anyone, never daring to believe that the future could bring anything else than more suffering.
Mitch is the twin brother to the current Alpha. He could have been an alpha himself, but he prefers to support his brother, working behind the scenes. He comes across Simon as he finishes burying his mother. Weakened and death tired and still trying to flee, Simon does not recognise Mitch as his mate.
The most of the story is about Mitch building the trust and a relationship with Simon. It demands an unending patience, but it pays - in the end.
The cover is not quite truthful, is it?
Quite short story, but it is okay. It would be smearing it above and beyond if it was longer.

First thing I have to say about this audiobook...this narrator was phenomenal! Wow, seriously one of the best I've heard. I fully plan to search out his other audiobooks and add a few of them to my wish list. And with his incredible narrating, I adored this book.
Simon is a male Omega...something that is considered wrong by most shifter wolves. He's also gay, which is something they can scent, so that makes him even more wrong. As a result, he's spent his entire life as an outcast and having to battle both mentally and physically for everything. His mother left her pack when they kicked him out...because she loved him and couldn't stand the idea of him being alone. But now he's had to return to his original pack lands to bury his mother and that's brought him to Mitch.
Mitch is the twin brother to the Blue Mountain pack alpha. He's an alpha in his own right, but has no desire to run the pack. He's only supporting Freddy...but he's a stranger to this pack and he's a bit lonely. So it's a huge surprise when he meets Simon and realizes they are mates...something he never figured he'd find as a gay shifter.
The problem arises in that Simon doesn't trust anyone and he's never been safe enough to follow his instincts. Mitch says they are mates, but he sure doesn't trust that. I found the set-up of this book really interesting. You don't see many omegas in shifter novels and I liked Cardeno C's twist with having him be male. The story was great and I definitely enjoyed both characters. Mitch is rough and alpha, but he has such a sweet, soft side. I loved how he was willing to do anything to make sure Simon felt safe and secure....even when it was killing him to give Simon that space. It made him a great hero. And then there's Simon. It's not his nature to be strong and forceful, but he has had to be to survive. That's turned him into a great character who truly is someone that works with Mitch so well...it makes it so they come into this relationship as almost equals even though Mitch is so much more naturally powerful. Simon holds the reins in this relationship.
I enjoyed this first book, but I have to admit, I'm surprised it's a series. I have no idea where the series will go, but I'll definitely follow it because I loved Mitch, Simon, Freddy, and Donia.
What a sweet story! I really liked both of the main characters; Simon was so wary and hurting from his horrible past that my heart ached for him. But despite being stubborn and hostile on the outside at first, he's a gentle and caring soul, one who loves to help others, especially his mate. Mitch is rough and gruff in the most adorable way. Lacking in social skills, his heart of gold still shines through. His need to care for Simon, to protect him and give him whatever he needs--including time and space--was incredibly romantic.
The story moved at a believable pace. It took a long time for Simon to start following his instincts and let Mitch in, but given his abusive past, it would have felt wrong if they'd instantly tumbled into bed together. This is the first book I've read by this author, and I'm certain it won't be the last.
